What is School Library Month?
School Library Month is the celebration of school librarians and their programs. The 2014 theme is Lives change @ your library® and Jeff Kinney, New York Times bestselling author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, has been named the national spokesperson. “I don't know where I'd be without my school library,” said Kinney. “Our librarians were passionate about putting great books in the hands of kids, and making us into lifelong readers. School libraries introduce kids to whole new worlds and new perspectives and are so important in broadening kids' minds. It's crucial that we support our school libraries, especially in times of tightening budgets. I'm so grateful for the well-stocked libraries and knowledgeable, dedicated school librarians that were a part of my childhood.” Leave a comment on this post and tell me how your library has changed your life! :) Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our Book Fair!
Due to your support we were able to get the following:
Thank you to all the students who brought in loose change to donate. We collected a total of $28.85!! The girls collected $17.77 and the boys collected $9.08 so that means the girls WIN! :) This money was donated to Mrs. Casteel's class. They are raising money to send books to students in Ethiopia. Our next Book Fair will be in October, See you then! |
